Dance-A-Thon for Ovarian Cancer Awareness

Since being diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in 2020, Nina’s dance community has done so much to support her health and to find joy in her body. Please join us for a Dance-A-Thon to support Ovarian Cancer awareness and survivors.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 and spread awareness within our community about Ovarian Cancer. All proceeds will go to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC).

Ovarian cancer is still the deadliest of the reproductive cancers and the five-year survival rate for women like Nina, diagnosed at stage 3 or 4, is only 10%. Ovarian cancer is known as the “silent killer” because 75-80% are only diagnosed in the advanced stages of the disease, as in Nina’s case. If diagnosed early, the five-year survival rate is 90%, however there is no screening for ovarian cancer, and the signs and symptoms are easily missed or mis-diagnosed. Unlike breast cancer, there has been relatively little public discussion and awareness of ovarian or other gyn cancers.

Dancers can register to join the event and dance with renowned instructors Fatou Kamara, Lisa Saunders, and Katy Yong, for a 90-minute workshop held at the Claremont Club Fitness Room in Berkeley, CA. Club membership is not required and parking will be validated.

Once registered, dancers will create their own participant pages to spread awareness and raise funds for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. The general public may donate directly to the cause via this site.
