Welcome to Historic Claremont Hotel Club & Spa in Berkeley

Opened in 1915 and ideally nestled at the Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve base, overlooking scenic San Francisco Bay, the Claremont offers 276 handsomely restored guestrooms and suites, a celebrated spa, and an impressive dining portfolio. The Claremont marked its 100th anniversary with the culmination of an extensive restoration. Meeting and social event planners have access to 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including the Empire Ballroom that can accommodate upwards of 450 attendees and several meeting rooms with spectacular Bay views. The iconic resort is also home to a private social and tennis club with loyal members who enjoy hotel amenities, fitness facilities, and lifestyle programming.

The site was once home to a beautiful estate known locally as the “castle.” It had been owned by William B. Thornburg, who constructed the facility during the mid-19th century. We’re just minutes to downtown Berkeley, the University of California campus, and downtown Oakland. Come for an urban escape, power lunch, or catch one of the famed sunsets over the San Francisco skyline. Float in our pool overlooking the city or retreat to our acclaimed spa and wellness center. Meet with friends and colleagues in the center of it all. See and be seen. What are you waiting for? Claremont Club & Spa, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, resides high atop the Berkeley Hills, in one of the East Bay’s most prestigious neighborhoods and overlooks the cities of Oakland and Berkeley. The historic property boasts Northern California’s most spectacular panoramas —San Francisco’s iconic skyline, Golden Gate, and Bay Bridges, and bay views for miles. The hotel was once home to a beautiful estate known locally as the “castle.”
